OVERVIEW

The hassle in cleaning is not the act in itself, but the machines you use. Thus, having a suitable vacuum cleaner in your house is not only a convenience but also a necessity. You might need an assistant that never gets bored or distracted and is always willing to keep your house tidy while you’re at work or running errands. The Best Robot Vacuums can make this dream a reality and you don’t need to break the bank to afford one. Here I will introduce you to some tips to get a smart purchase.

BUYING GUIDES

It's the perfect time for you to get a robot vacuum. Anyway, it may be easy to use a robotic cleaner, but shopping for the right one is overwhelming. Thus, I’ve aimed to recommend a handful of important features that you should notice to get the best versions of those robots. I’ll get into details over here.

1. Size:

For difficult-to-move furniture or low-clearance objects like couches or bed frames, you'll need to pay attention to the height of a robot vacuum, the other dimensions are typically reasonable for a typical home. If you want your robot vacuum to get under low-clearance furniture, select a type that is small enough to do so.

2. Self-emptying:

This function is available on more expensive models. When the dustbin on the robot vacuum is full, it will return to its charging station to self-empty. This is then kept in the dock until the larger bin is full and has to be emptied. Self-emptying versions are ideal for allergy people as with this, dust is discharged into the air less frequently.

3. Modern Features:

It's important to think about what features you actually need. For example, if you work from home and are rarely gone, HD cameras aren't necessary because you can monitor your house with your own eyes. About wifi connectivity, the majority of robot vacuums can connect to your smartphone through Wi-Fi, although some lower-end versions do not. It lets you operate and monitor your robot vacuum from your phone and provides you access to a variety of extra functions depending on the model.

4. Mapping:

Some models use sensors to map out your home and recall any impediments, such as the stairs. If the robot vacuum has Wi-Fi access, the map can be shown on your phone, and it can then design the optimal cleaning path rather than going randomly. Mapping can sometimes also cover multiple floors, which can be useful if you live on more than one level.

5. Scheduling:

This is a very common specification of robot vacuums. You can connect it to your smartphone and schedule when you want it to clean, whether it's daily, weekly, or when you're not at home.

6. Remote control:

Some low-cost robot vacuum cleaners include a remote control rather than Wi-Fi connectivity. It doesn't provide you as many options, but it still allows you to manage it hands-free.

7. Battery life:

Battery life is an essential factor to consider. If you're looking for a model that comes with a base, it can self-charge between runs. However, if the type you're considering requires manual plugging in, you might have to come home to a half-finished work.

8. Dust capacity:

The smaller the dustbin, the faster it will fill. Look for a minimum of 400ml, unless it self-empties of course!

9. Extras:

Extra filters or brushes for robot vacuums are widely available, but we believe having them supplied with the device is preferable. All of our best selections come with handy accessories like brushes and dirt disposal bags.

10. Price:

While they can be effective cleaners, budget models aren't as sophisticated. Pricier robot vacuums will have more sensors, which they can use to map a room and clean it more efficiently. Whereas the cheaper would bump around a room randomly until everything is clean. In general, budget of non-smart models that cost around $200 and less, and smarter models that cost around $400 and up.

Robot vacuums go on sale often. I expect most of the models we recommend in this guide to go on sale so it pays to wait until those sale days.

OUR TOP PICKS

1.  Budget Pick: Eufy RoboVac 11S

View price on Amazon

No other robot vacuum blends into the background well as the Eufy RoboVac 11S. Here's a robotic vacuum that proves you don't have to break the bank to obtain a good robot vacuum cleaner. Cost only $170, the machine does amazingly in cleaning floors, especially for bare hardwood floors.

It's smaller than other bots, allowing it to slide under more furniture and pick up a lot of concealed dirt. The main disadvantage is that the 11S doesn’t appear to be constructed to be used more than a couple of years on average, and we've heard of plenty of unrepairable malfunctions that occur even sooner. This 11S is a semi-random navigator and works best in small spaces.

Eufy sells at least a dozen variants of this bot, each of which has a slightly different set of additional features such as Wi-Fi, extra suction, or do-not-cross strips. And thanks to this vacuum's basic navigation system, it took well over an hour to negotiate the room. As far as time goes, that's a lot. Still, the Eufy used its runtime wisely. The vacuum covered the space well, cleaning up and leaving almost no spots untouched. The Eufy is also self-charging, so again, no need to worry about battery life or factor that into overall cleaning time. It's the best robot vacuum for value.

  • Engineered to be the slimmest* RoboVac (2.85'')
  • BoostIQ Technology

  • Premium Features: Anti-scratch tempered glass-top, infrared-sensor, and drop-sensing tech.
  • Automatically recharges so it's always ready to clean.

2.  Upgrade Pick: Roborock S4 Max

View price on Amazon

The Roborock S4 Max is my current favorite robot vacuum in general, since it can completely clean most houses, big or little, and gives you complete control over where, when, and how it performs.

It cleaned up 94% of kitty litter on carpet and hardwood floors, and even better on Cheerios and dog hair. It can learn the layout of your house in a single cleaning session, following which you may direct it to clean specific rooms while avoiding any no-go zones you've set up. The S4 Max will map your house quickly, and it is a breeze to establish rooms in the app and then command the robot vacuum to clean specific areas. You may even schedule cleanings for certain times.

The laser-based navigation system is especially excellent at avoiding obstructions, allowing the S4 Max to cover a large amount of floor surface swiftly and comprehensively while following a predictable path.

The main disadvantage is that Roborock bots aren't particularly sturdy, and they may struggle more on specific carpets than rival models. If you find all of these controls to be overly difficult, or if you do not intend to connect your robot vacuum to Wi-Fi, this would be hard for you.

As an Amazon exclusive, the Roborock S4 Max can run out of stock periodically, but it's worth picking up when it's available.

Highlighted features:

  • Laser Navigation, Multi-Level Mapping, Invisible Wall and No-Go Zones
  • 2000Pa Suction: Powerful enough to easily lift dust from floors and drag it from carpets.
  • App Control: See where S4 Max has been, a map of your home, control schedules and suction power, and more from your phone.
  • S4 Improved: Now with better carpet cleaning performance, better climbing ability and bigger dust bin.
  • Large Battery: A large battery means long cleaning times, more than enough to tackle larger homes.

3.  Mop Hybrid Pick: Roborock S7 Robot Vacuum and Mop Cleaner

View price on Amazon

Of all hybrid robot vacuum/robot mops, the S7 is the first gadget that we'd trust to vacuum and mop without constant monitoring. That's because the S7 is smart enough to recognize when it's on a rug and can raise its mopping pad to avoid soaking your carpet.

As a vacuum, the S7 was pretty good — it's not the best with pet hair — but it was fast and thorough, scoring a pick up average of 93. It works better on hard floors compared to carpets, but even on carpets the performance was decent, scoring an average of just over 90. Its multi-level mapping and automatic room recognition allows it to map up to 4 levels which every room recognizes automatically. It also features sonic vibration technology that scrubs at up to 3000 cycles/minute for more effective dry stain removal. Besides, the intelligent mop lifting and multi-directional floating brush equipment help the machine to lift on low-pile carpets, avoid dragging dirt and clean deeply.

If you're looking for a robot vacuum that can also mop, the Roborock S7 is worth a look.

Highlighted features:

  • Winner of 17 Best of CES 2021 Awards, including from Business Insider, Digital Trends, Newsweek, and How To Geek.
  • Sonic Vibration Technology:
  • Intelligent Mop Lifting
  • Multi-Directional Floating Brush
  • Intense Suction: Easily lift dust and hair from floors, and pull it from deep inside carpets.
  • LiDAR Navigation with Adaptive Route Algorithms
  • Multi-Level Mapping and Automatic Room Recognition

4.  2-in-1 Pick: Ecovacs DEEBOT OZMO T5 Robot Vacuum

View price on Amazon

If you want a device that can vacuum and wet-mop your floors at the same time, the Ecovacs DEEBOT OZMO T5 is unbeatable. It's the only one that can do both, thanks to an innovative electronic water pump, reservoir, and either reusable or disposable pads. You also don't have to worry about getting your carpet wet while using the DEEBOT. The robot automatically avoids carpets due to its carpet detecting function. When vacuuming, the DEEBOT detects carpet and automatically boosts suction to clean more thoroughly.

This vacuum is perfect for bigger houses because of its systematic vacuuming pattern, three levels of suction, and over three hours of run time. The sensors can also keep the robot from colliding with objects or sliding off ledges or down steps.

Another fascinating feature is its function of building up to three distinct maps of your home's floor layout as it navigates about. Then, using the smartphone app, you can access the map to create a custom cleaning schedule and define limits for the robot based on where you want it to clean and where you don't want it to clean.

Highlighted features:

  • Deebot T5 Powerful suction with 430ml dustbin and 240ml adjustable water tank
  • Smart laser navigation & multi-floor mapping
  • Full customized cleaning: Using the app, you can decide when and where it can clean or set up no-go zones.
  • 3+ Hours runtime: industry-leading 5200mAh battery, provides up to 3,200+ square feet of coverage on a single charge
  • Strong climbing ability and optimized brush design
  • Recharge and Resume function
  • Voice and App Control

5.  Value Pick: EufyVac 15C Max Robot Vacuum

View price on Amazon

The Eufy robot vacuum was one of the quietest vacuums we tested, and it was a top performance owing to its two side brushes and roller brush motion, and is packed with high-end features at an affordable price, making it a favorite among Amazon reviewers. Its sleek, ultra-slim design of just under three inches tall allows it to fit beneath low ottomans and couches and even the most difficult-to-reach dirt.

When an extra-strength cleaning task is detected, Eufy's BoostIQ Technology automatically increases suction power. Its wide wheels let it effortlessly move from medium-pile carpet to hardwood or tile and climb over door sills. Eufy's advanced sensors can prevent it from falling off ledges or stairs or knocking against your furniture.

There's a remote control for spot cleaning or tidying only the borders of your rooms, and the smartphone app allows you to create your own cleaning plan and syncs with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice-control ease.

Highlighted features:

  • Wi-Fi Convenience: The EufyHome app, Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant voice control-services.
  • Worry-Free Cleaning: Set Boundary Strips and the slim 2.85" body—upgraded to 1500Pa* suction, only cleans the areas you want.
  • BoostIQ™ Technology: Automatically increases suction power within 1.5 seconds when extra vacuuming strength is needed
  • A Quiet Clean: Vacuums for up to 100 minutes** of constant
  • What You Get: RoboVac 30C, 13.2 ft Boundary Strips, remote control (2 AAA batteries included), charging base, AC power adapter, cleaning tool, extra set of high-performance filters, 4 side brushes, 5 cable ties, welcome guide, and our worry-free 12-month warranty.

FAQs

1.  How often should I vacuum my house?

If anyone in your

the household suffers from allergies, you should vacuum at least twice a week.

Furthermore, if you live in a high-traffic area, the frequency of cleaning will

increase. All you have to do is frequently ensure that your family lives in a

safe and clean environment.

2.  How do you clean a robot vac?

Though robot vacuums clean your floors automatically, they are not totally hands-free. There are numerous care and maintenance actions you should take to guarantee your vacuum works correctly for many years. In the user manual or app, manufacturers give detailed instructions on how to clean and maintain your robot vacuum.

Here are some general maintenance tasks:

Empty the dustbin: Depending on how unclean your home is, you should empty the dustbin of your robot vacuum after each usage. If you run your vacuum every day and don't have pets, you may do this job once a week.

Clean the filter and dustbin: This is a weekly task. Cleaning the filter is critical because a dirty filter causes the vacuum to perform poorly.

Clean front wheel, brushes, sensors, and charging contacts: This task should be done every two to four weeks. The cleaning tool that comes with most robot vacuums has a brush on one end and a cutting blade on the other.

Furthermore, after about two months of usage, the filter should be replaced. Every year or so, you should also replace both the main brush and the side brushes.

3.  Can a robot vacuum prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus?

The new coronavirus spreads most quickly in close quarters and through face-to-face contacts, so if someone in your home has been sick, even if it wasn't with COVID-19, it's best to clean and disinfect the environment.

"Currently the CDC recommends that we take precautionary measures for vacuuming during the COVID-19 outbreak although there are no reported cases of COVID-19 associated with vacuuming," Peña-Hernández said. "It recommends using a vacuum with a HEPA filter, opening outside doors and windows to increase air circulation, and not vacuuming areas with people in it."

4.  Can you fix a robot vac?

Any attempt to repair your robot vacuum should begin with contacting customer care. After determining that you would be unable to clear the pet waste from your robot vacuum, you should contact the manufacturer. And, despite the fact that the warranty expressly specifies that these mishaps are not covered, they might still give you a replacement unit for free.

CONCLUSION

Now every decision is yours. My recommendations are not only based on overall performance, but also on availability, pricing, and reader comments. I have highlighted products together with their outstanding features that your may find interesting, and here is my finally picks:

These vacuums all have the reputation for performing well without breaking the bank. Hopefully through my review, you can pick up the best robot vacuums that suit all your tastes and needs.
