the best laptop for programming for 2022?

The debate is never-ending.
Apple, Lenovo, Microsoft: What brand of laptop should you buy? Where's the best place to look for one? And how much should you spend?

In this post, we're going to answer those questions. We'll get into laptops for programming languages like Python and Java and machines geared more towards everyday products, such as web browsing and word processing.
The laptops we've selected have been chosen based on their capabilities, worldwide availability and manufacturer-provided software.
If you want a laptop that's fully equipped with all the developer tools you need, then check out our list of 20 essentials for computer programming.
But if you're looking for a compact laptop that does double duty, then the ASUS ZenBook 3 is ideal.

1. Asus ZenBook 3 Deluxe Ultraportable Laptop

  • Crafted from premium aerospace-grade aluminum to create a body that is less than half an inch thin weighs only 2.4 lbs
  • Latest 8th-Generation Kabylake Intel Core i7-8550U Processor 1.8 GHz 8M cache (Turbo up to 4.0 GHz) cooled by copper-alloy heat pipe and liquid-crystal-polymer fan. Intel Inside. Extraordinary Performance Outside. Powered by Intel Core i7 Processor
  • 14" Full HD display with 178° viewing angles encased in Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Ultra-slim bezel at only 7.46mm
  • 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, Latest Thunderbolt 3-enabled USB 3.1 Type C and additional 2 dongles (USB3.1 to USB3.0+USB3.1 to HDMI) and carrying sleeve
  • All-day 46Whr Li-Polymer battery providing up to 9 hours of battery life. Features fast charging: charge to 60% in only 49 minutes

ASUS is so confident with their product that they're bundling the editing suite of Adobe CC along with the laptop. In our testing, the bundled software worked perfectly.
The low price also puts extra value on utility. You get an additional year of B&O headphones (worth around $80) and a warranty lasting three years after purchase (worth around $150).
The ASUS ZenBook 3 is a very impressive Windows 10 laptop at a low price.

Specifications: The ASUS ZenBook 3 has an aluminum body and weighs just 2.99 pounds, so it's easy to carry around. It's also extremely light for a 15-inch laptop (15.75 x 09.75 x 0.45 inches, 2 lbs). The portable design comes in handy if you need to take it or pack it up for travel.
The screen is a Full HD 1920 x 1080 IPS panel with wide viewing angles, accurate color reproduction and good brightness. Even though the laptop's display isn't the brightest, you won't have any problem working in low-light conditions.
ASUS includes its SonicMaster audio tech with this laptop, which is way better than the integrated speakers on a lot of laptops at this price point. The speakers are loud, they have a good frequency response and even sound very good when you're listening to music.
The performance of this machine is excellent. The Intel Core i7-7500U processor and 16GB of RAM will handle anything you throw at them. The laptop has great hardware for the price, it performs extremely well for its class. If you're just using it for general browsing, then you'll be pleasantly surprised.
The 32GB, eMMC storage drive, is a little small in our opinion, but if you're buying this as an upgrade to a budget laptop then this shouldn't be a problem. The drive isn't the fastest, but it's a solid storage unit.
What We Didn't Like:
The trackpad on this laptop is a bit small. It's accurate enough, but there are larger trackpads on other laptops in the same price range.
The ASUS ZenBook 3 is a great Windows 10 laptop for the price, but it's not perfect. It specially has an aluminum-body which makes it very sturdy and helps with heat dispersion (the laptop stays cool). The display is nice with accurate colors and good viewing angles; however, the brightness could be better.
The performance on the ASUS ZenBook 3 is excellent, but the storage drive could be faster.

2. The third is the ASUS Zenbook UX305FA-ASM1 Laptop (Windows 8.1, Intel 5th Gen Core M-5Y10 0.8GHz, 13" LED-lit Screen, Storage: 256 GB, RAM: 8 GB) Grey

  • 13.3-Inch FHD Display
  • Intel 5th Gen Core M-5Y10 0.8GHz Processor
  • 256 GB Solid State Drive. 8 GB RAM
  • Equipped with dual-band WiFi 802.11N, Bluetooth 4.0
  • Designed to be ultra-slim with an all-aluminum body

that has a 13.3-inch screen and runs on the Kaby Lake processor. (in this article, we'll call it the ZenBook Flip)
It's a bit more expensive than our budget pick, but you get a touchscreen display, which is ideal for doing programming work and using other productivity-oriented apps like LibreOffice Writer.
The display isn't as sharp as some of the other laptops in this price range, but it still has great color reproduction and contrast ratios. You also get wide viewing angles and accurate color gamut coverage to help you out with graphics work.
