Makita has some experience and has used bar saws since I was a teenager. This saw is excellent for the Money and exactly what you need for the job. I purchased the "heavy duty chain." If you have a bigger job, plan on having additional chains and oil. Moreover, the chain is easy to install by removing the sprocket cover. Or you can use the included bar-mount wedges (for reducing vibration and kickback) to choose a width that works with your job.

DEWALT is for sale for a low price. This is the way to go if you are on a budget and want to maximize your power. This chainsaw can run on pressure-treated wood with a good battery, which should last quite a while. I would highly recommend it. Make sure you buy extra chains and batteries if your projects tend to be long. It's well worth it. In addition, the chainsaw is easy to assemble and requires very little maintenance once it's together. The battery charger that comes with the package is also fantastic.

BUYING GUIDE

1. Evaluate your needs.

To help you evaluate what you need in a chainsaw, you will have to consider a few things. Those are: How much do you plan on cutting each year? How big do the trees need to be? What is your budget for purchasing this unit?

2. Know the components of a chainsaw.

You must know what components make up a chainsaw to determine whether or not it is worth your Money. Here is the list of components: Handle

Handle Grip

Motor

Chain bar + teeth links

Chainring + gears + sprocket (if applicable) Check out our review of the Best Chainsaw for the Money.

3. Know what a chainsaw is composed of.

It is a cutting Path: The path your wood-cutting frame/bar will travel to cut through your wood. Knowing this is important so you can pick out the best unit for you. More about it here. Chain Bar: The chain bar is the one that connects to the chain in a single link, which gives the chain its name. The bar usually ranges from 16 inches to 21 inches long and is primarily made of either forged steel or extruded aluminum. Teeth: The teeth of the saw do the cutting (obvious, right?). When it comes to teeth, they can be set in a way that is equal on each side (full chisel) or unequal (left hand, right hand). In addition, the chains have different angles at which the teeth point about the direction of travel. Think about this when ordering. You want a chainsaw that will be easy for you to control and handle during use. This means that it needs to have a good-sized motor but small enough for you to handle comfortably.

FAQs

1. What is a corded chainsaw?

A corded chainsaw is a chainsaw that has an electrical cord attached to it. This gives the user more versatility when cutting and prevents the user from having to lug around the weight of an extension cord. The biggest pro of using a corded chainsaw is that you can work longer than you normally would without worrying about running out of battery (hence, cutting for longer periods without worrying about charging).

2. What is the Best Corded Chainsaw?

A corded chainsaw would be beneficial for individuals who are looking for portability and freedom from extension cords. For example, a corded saw will do the job if someone has a small number of trees that need to be trimmed. Its functionality is generally limited to trimming trees, cutting firewood, and pruning. If you need to cut down trees and logs over 16 inches, it's probably better to use a gas chainsaw instead.

3. What is the best gas chainsaw?

A gas chainsaw would be ideal for individuals who need to cut down trees and logs over 16 inches in length. A corded saw may not be appropriate if you have up to 4 cords of firewood. With a corded saw, you will have problems with battery life (which can be solved with an extension cord), and if your trees are over 16 inches in length, they will probably break your chain. Having said that, there are some things to consider when getting a gas chainsaw: You want to get a 3-speed capacity to tackle various tasks such as cutting branches from trees over 6ft long and cutting up large logs for firewood.
