1. Camber
A cambered board is easier to turn, so that it will be better for tight turns in steep terrain. If you plan on taking your board off the mountain, a cambered board may not be the best choice because it won't perform well on flat terrain for long distances.
2. Shape
Do you want a traditional or camber board? Traditional boards have slight camber, while camber boards are designed with a more pronounced camber.
3. Sidecut
A snowboard with a wider sidecut will be easier to turn and ride in deep powder because it will have a smaller radius of the turn and have less bite in the deep powder. A narrower sidecut is good for riding in deeper powder because it will give you a better edge hold on turns and better control over your speed.
1. Which all-mountain freeride snowboard should I buy?
Different brands have different shapes, sizes, and camber of their boards. There's no way for us to recommend one board over the other because we don't know what shape, size, or camber you'll like best. Do some research on any boards you're interested in, and pick the one that looks the most fun to you. Keep your budget in mind as well!
2. What should my all-mountain freeride snowboard fit like?
Your all-mountain freeride snowboard should be slightly longer and wider than your board. You'll need to have enough room between your feet and the nose of the board so you can get in and out of your stance easily. The deeper the flex, the more flexible your deck will be. If you aren't sure how deep you need a flex to be, try finding a friend who has that board style and ask them what their favorite flex feels like.
3. What size do I need for an all-mountain freeride snowboard?
You should get your all-mountain to freeride snowboard bigger than your width. If you plan on riding it in powder, the bigger the board, the more float you'll have. The larger a person's weight, the wider they will supposedly ride their all-mountain freeride snowboard.
