Reinhold Schwenk came to America from Germany in 1966, after studying graphic design. Inspired by Gerhard Richter, whose diverse work undermines the concept of the artist’s obligation to maintain a single cohesive style, Reinhold continues to explore and experiment. Reinhold was diagnosed with throat cancer in Spring of 2011. Throughout the arduous procedures and healing, his doctors, nurses and social workers at Mt. Sinai Hospital always encouraged him to get back to painting. This exhibition, which opened in September of 2013 and is still on display, is the result.
