Jules Janick is the James Troop Distinguished Professor of Horticulture at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.  He is one of the best known personalities in horticulture with research in genetics, fruit breeding, in vitro culture, and horticultural science.  Professor Janick has made significant contribution to the historical aspects of horticulture and explores the relation of art, horticultural technology, and plant iconography.  A prolific writer, he  has written or edited over 150 volumes and is author or coauthor of over 400 papers.  Professor Janick is the recipient of honorary degrees from the University of Bologna, Technical University of Lisbon, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cruj-Napoca.
