Black Marks

The black marks
remained intact
he knew the house well
but had not noticed
the marks
on the green shutters.
How much more walking
we reached nowhere
and we didn’t even touch
the sun
sleeping
on the black marks.
She’d hide them
with yellow flowerpots.

Today she left with the sun
and he for the first time
confronted
the black marks.
A whole boulevard of sobs
and two alleys of pain
were needed
for him to see
the big black marks
on the green shutters.
